Term 2

This term, in our writing lessons, we will be continuing to base our writing on the gripping book Floodland by Marcus Sedgwick. We will be learning to use a wide range of clause structures, varying their position within the sentence, in our writing building up to writing our own stories about England after a disaster has occurred.

In maths we will continue our work on the four operations. The children will continue to complete their weekly times table challenge and I look forward to seeing lots more children move onto the Bonus level.

This term we will be learning all about Greece (geography), Ancient Greece (history) and light (science). The children will find out where Greece is located and how the climate varies throughout the year, they will then transfer their knowledge about Greece in a travel blog created on the laptops! The children will also learn all about what it was like living in Ancient Greece and how this ancient civilisation has affected the world we live in today. We will also compare this ancient civilisation to others which the children have already learnt about it previous year groups.

Term 1

Welcome to what I’m sure will be a great year. The children have really impressed me with the way they have settled back into school and with their eagerness to learn! This term we will be reading two books: Pig Heart Boy and Floodland. Much of our connected curriculum work and our literacy will be driven by this. The Children will be making discoveries about the circulatory system and the fascinating ways in which this system connects to the other systems in our body, such as our digestive system which the children learnt about in Year 3!
