Term 3

Why do animals live in different places?

This term in year 2 we will be learning about living things and their habitats.  Alongside this we will be using the story ‘There’s A Tiger in the Garden’ to inspire our writing lessons.

Term 2

Why were there so few survivors when the Titanic sank?

This term in Year 2, we are very excited to be learning all about the Titanic! Did you know the Titanic had four funnels but only three of them actually had a purpose? I didn’t either! We can’t wait to find out more information and facts. During our writing lessons we will be using the story ‘Samson’s Titanic Journey’.

Key Stage One Christmas Performance – Everyone Loves a Baby!

WOW!! What can I say…. What fantastic performances we have had this week! The children sang their hearts out and acted as if they were professionals. I am sure you will agree that it was a lovely performance and you should all be very proud of your children.

Children in Need 2019

This Friday was Children in Need day. The children were asked to bring in a donation to wear something Spotty. It was lovely seeing all of the children participating in this and the class looked very bright and colourful! For our activity we brought in photos of us as babies and we had to try and guess who was who!

Family Fun Learning

Year 2 children and their parents and carers had great fun making pizzas this afternoon. Whilst the pizzas were in the oven they all decorated their pizza boxes and played a game of bingo! The pizzas smelt delicious!

To introduce our new topic this term Year 2 had a WOW day. Our first activity of the day was to create a junk model Titanic! As you can see from the pictures below our children are very creative. We then learnt about the different passengers on the Titanic and found out in third class they would eat Plum Pudding after their main evening meals. So, Year 2 got their baking hats on and made our very own version of plum pudding. The children thought they were delicious – so did Mr Walters!

Term 1

During term 1 we will be looking at different materials and their properties. Our story that we will be focusing on is ‘The Storm Whale’ by Benji Davies. Not only is this a lovely book for the children to immerse themselves it also links with our topic of materials as we will be looking at the different materials that are in our oceans.

Diwali Workshop

This afternoon in Year 2, we were lucky to have a visitor come in and teach us some Bollywood Dancing. We had lots of fun learning this new type of dance. Even the adults tried to show off their moves!

Today we were set the challenge of creating a storm whale picture. As you can see from the photos below – we are budding artists!
