British Dodgeball National Primary Mixed Team Quarter-Finalists!
On Friday 3rd July 2026, our mixed dodgeball team travelled to Kettering to compete in the British Dodgeball National Finals, joining the very best primary school teams from across the country.
With only the top two teams from each group progressing to the knockout stages, every match was fiercely contested. The standard throughout the day was exceptional, with every team demonstrating excellent skill, teamwork and determination.
Our players embraced the challenge from the very beginning, showing fantastic resilience, communication and tactical awareness throughout the group stage. Their performances earned them a place in the quarter-finals, confirming that they were among the top primary school dodgeball teams in the country.
Although the team adapted brilliantly throughout the day, the finer nuances of the national competition laws caught us out on several occasions, resulting in valuable points being conceded. The players learned quickly, responded with great resilience, and continued to improve with every match.
The quarter-final was another closely fought contest. The team battled for every point, refusing to give up and supporting one another throughout the match. Although their national finals journey came to an end at the quarter-final stage, they left the competition with their heads held high after an outstanding performance.
To have both our girls’ team and our mixed team reach the quarter-finals of the British Dodgeball National Finals is an incredible achievement for our school. Competing against schools with significantly larger pupil numbers, our children demonstrated not only excellent dodgeball skills but also the qualities that define Coniston: determination, resilience, teamwork, respect and the confidence to take on new challenges.
We are immensely proud of every player who represented the school so brilliantly. Reaching the last eight teams in the country is a remarkable accomplishment and one that everyone at Coniston should celebrate.

British Dodgeball National Primary Girls Quarter-Finalists!
On Tuesday 19th May 2026, our girls’ dodgeball team travelled from Patchway to Kettering to take their place in the British Dodgeball National Finals. The competition brought together the top primary teams from across the country, with each group containing six schools and only the top two progressing to the quarter-finals.
From the first whistle, the standard was incredibly high, and every match demanded outstanding teamwork, focus and tactical awareness.
Group Stage Success
Our team rose brilliantly to the challenge, delivering a perfect set of results:
- Vs. Boothville Primary School – Won 6–4Â
- Vs. St. Leonards – Won 6–4Â
- Vs. Central – Won 10–0Â
- Vs. Hope Hamilton – Won 6–4Â
- Vs. Beynon – Won 7–3Â
A phenomenal 5 wins from 5 games, securing first place in the group.
A Dramatic Quarter-Final
The quarter-final proved to be the most dramatic match of the day. After competing in another sporting event the previous afternoon — which included a demanding 600m time trial — some of our main throwers were beginning to tire.
Trailing 5–1, the girls showed brilliant adaptability as we switched throwers. The rest of the team stepped up superbly, fighting back to 5–5 and forcing an extra deciding set. When that too ended level, the match moved into a one-minute super set.
In the final second, a powerful, accurate throw from the opposition clipped one of our players’ feet, bringing an end to our remarkable run. Coniston finished as national quarter-finalists — an incredible achievement.

For a small school like ours to compete at this level — against teams from schools two and three times our size — is truly impressive. Our players demonstrated some key qualities:

Dodgeball ChampionshipsÂ
GIRLS
The children are making a huge impact in the Dodgeball scene.  This year is the first year that we have entered into the British Dodgeball Championships. Â
The girls’ team travelled to Weston-Super-Mare to compete in the South-West Championships to challenge for a place in the national finals. The competition was fierce to say the least and the girls were quite taken aback with just how aggressive the play was.Â
However, they adapted quickly after losing their first couple of games and grew stronger and stronger as the event progressed. Although they didn’t win the event, they made it through to the national finals! A huge achievement. If the girls continue improving at the rate they did in this tournament, who knows what they could achieve in the finals.

With a much higher entry rate, the mixed event was a daunting prospect. However, the girls and boys had had a little more time to prepare and had practised and refined some impressive tactics. Â
As with the girls’ event, the children took a little time to get into their stride. Once they did however, they were fantastic! They went through the whole tournament unbeaten. This was done not just through ability. Intelligence, calmness and teamwork were the main attributes that enabled the children to excel. Â
In their first year, the mixed team go into the British Dodgeball Championships as South -West Champions.
Patchway High Dodgeball Festival winners.Â
On the 16th October the Dodgeball team took part in the Patchway Community School Dodgeball Festival. Seven schools entered teams: ourselves, Callicroft, Filton Hill, Stoke Lodge, Holy Trinity, Holy Family and St Chads. The format was that every team played each other. A win earned 3 points, a draw earned 2 points and a loss earned 1 point. Coniston played all matches with a brilliant combination of pace, patience and clever tactics. Each player knew their role and executed it extremely well. The team spirit was outstanding: always supporting each other, praising each other and looking to help each other out when the game needed it. Because of this, and the players undoubted talent, they won every game comfortably. They closest match was a two – nil win. Every player was a credit to the school. They played fairly, won graciously and showed respect and sportsmanship to the opponent.

Bradley Stoke Community School Dodgeball Competition
Coniston children from yr 5 and 6 participated in the Bradley Stoke Community School Dodgeball Competition on Monday 5th February. Competing against larger schools, the children were outstanding! Their sportsmanship and determination to have fun AND do their very best produced amazing results. Going through the whole tournament to the final unbeaten, they wondered if they could maintain their very high standards. In fact, they actually raised their standards and ran out eventual 3-0 winners – winning every single game! Well done boys and girls!
