School Council
Our School Council aims to prepare our pupils for citizenship by teaching them about roles, rights and responsibilities within the school system. Through planning, organising and monitoring small projects members of the school council will support personal development by helping our children to develop;
Who are we?
Our school council is split into three branches. Each branch is related to our curriculum drivers. By using these drivers, we hope to make the council meaningful and ensure the children value and promote service to others. To be a council member the children must be elected through the democratic process.
What have we achieved so far?
Some of the achievements of the School council last year include:
- Designing a bottle greenhouse
- Researching and educating the school about bees
- Establishing links with the memory café
- Establishing links with a school in North Korea
- Establishing links with a school in Germany
- Running a healthy eating workshop
- Monitoring Lunchboxes and encouraging healthy swaps using the food scanner app
- Planning and writing a healthy recipe for South Gloucestershire recipe book
- Planning and delivering Antibullying week
- Arrange assemblies and theme days to celebrate different cultures across the year
- Choose charities to fundraise for and help plan these days across the year
- Researched scientists to ensure there is a diverse range covered in our curriculum
